Issue 1

DO YOU GAMBLE

If you are thinking of putting Roof Anchors into your building or next project you have to ask yourself 'how much can I, or the company I work for, afford to lose'.
Having the right type of Roof Anchors, that work, is very important.
The decision is yours

Over 90% of Roof Anchors sold and installed in NZ and AU are like small time bombs waiting to go off which will kill someone. When these Roof Anchors fail, and some will fail, with a result of someone dying you will be left holding the bag.

FINES

Fines can cost anywhere from $250.000.00, time in Prison or both. The company you worked so hard for, or so hard to build, would no longer exist. Your peers would no longer trust your judgment, therefore finding work in the same industry may be difficult.

The companies that manufacture and sell these products will still be out there pushing their products. Their rear is covered and the money is still rolling in. It seems they have no problem about putting customers at risk of prosecution and end users at risk of serious harm or even death.

HEIGHT SAFETY

The Height Safety industry is a young industry and with all young industries there are teething problems. Unfortunately all the problems with Roof Anchors should be worked out before they go on sale, not after they have been in service for people to use.

You would be surprised at the number of installed Roof Anchors and systems that have been condemned upon inspection by professionals in the Safety Industry and Engineers.

THREATS OF PROSECUTION

A person who wishes to remain nameless was called upon to inspect and re-certify an Anchor System that had been in service for over twelve months. The whole system was condemned and deemed unsafe. Photos were taken of the Anchors and System and a visit was made to the company who sold and installed the System. After showing the photos and explaining the problem with the Anchors and System this person was threatened with legal action by the owner of the safety company and by his lawyer two days later if this was made public.

This same system and one identical have been condemned more recently on a hospital in the North Island by the on site Engineer.

Peoples' lives rest in the decision you make so please make the right one.
